The Black Opal Media Group has three central divisions:
- Publishing/Editorial Services
- Business/Educational Development
- Program/Concept Design
PUBLISHING/EDITORIAL SERVICES:
In this division, the company produces niche market publications using both traditional and digital forms of media. Below is a list of upcoming projects for this division:
- The Kulture Groove Multi-Cultural Journal: This publication will be both print and online with a specific aim at creating a dynamic online community of savvy multi-ethnic individuals. It will be published four times a yearly or quarterly.
- The Perfected Woman Enrichment Journal: Targeted towards women of color, this journal serves as the official publication for The Perfected Woman Enrichment Program (see below).
- PRAmerica: This publication, projected to be published on a monthly basis will definitively highlight minority businesses and provide specific business information that will allow minority business owners to create, maintain, and grow sustainable enterprises. As part of an overall interactive initiative, PRAmerica's online presence will include a social network for minority professionals and business owners.
BOMG's intention is to educate on a consistent basis using vehicles such as lecture series, seminars, and other media presentations. In this division, the use of pedagogy techniques combined with social media tools such as podcasts will be used to educate minority business owners as well as clients on varying issues affecting business and industry today.
PROGRAM/CONCEPT DESIGN:
Through dynamic program design, the firm looks to engage individuals, communities, and companies in an effort to achieve greater social and cultural understanding as well as enhance social responsibility. The following programs are currently under development with an official launch date forthcoming:
- The Kulture Groove Cultural Diversity Program: As part of an overall initiative to expose various cultures and ethnicities to the business world, this program interactively allows participation among company employees in an effort to gain a better understanding of the world's cultures. It seeks to enhance a business professional's worldview.
- Transitions Counseling and Development Program: Educational attainment remains one of the most critical requirements to sustaining a quality lifestyle. However, many multi-ethnic individuals are unable to complete college because of cultural differences, learning styles, backgrounds, finances, and/or poor secondary training. The Transitions Program is designed to aid these students along their quest for a college education by providing direct counseling and other services. Corporations can participate as sponsors for this program either on a communal or university level.
